That I am nae Merckx but that is beside the point.
Set out to just ENJOY the ride, take in some sights I've never seen in my home city and by god, I loved it. And I got to see some cracking scenery/hidden gems aswell!!!
And out of loving it, I discovered that when I need to, I can keep up a pretty good cadence of some distance now. Not as good as many others but I'm HAPPY with it for now.
This is the feeling I've been looking for, it feel's immense and I want another blast of it.
Get out, ride, but above all - JUST ENJOY IT. The rest will follow later.

I live on the edge of the Stour Valley, Essex/Suffolk border. As a motorist I'd come to treat the lanes and backroads as no more than short cuts & rat-runs to get from A-B. Going out on the bike at dawn it's spectacular, not a soul about except for the deer, hares, rabbits.
Now I'm starting to see what inspired John Constable to paint all those tablemats in the 1970s.0 -
+1 enjoyment is the key for me"This area left purposefully blank"
