Six13 & BB30 question, if it is indeed BB30

Hi all,
I have a Cannondale Six13, i think it must be a 2006 model.
I am doing the Dave Lloyd Mega in June and i don't think a double coupled with my legs will quite hack it, and being stuck with these legs, means the chainsets got to be changed.
Am i right in saying the cheapest way of getting more suitable gearing is to get a compact? meaning i only need a new chainset?
At the moment it is some Cannondale Si thing - am i right in thinking this is BB30, just before it was actually named BB30?
If so, i am restricted to finding a replacement Cannondale Si Compact chainset or one of those new FSA jobs. Are there any other options?
Any advice appreciated - thanks
Nick

Cheers for that. Perhaps just a cassette will do, i shall investigate.0

Hmm, unless you a really strong rider, 53/39 with 12-27 or so probably won't be enough for the DLMC. It'd probably be a good idea to look at getting a compact.
I beleive you can get different spiders for the Cannondale crankset, so that'd probably be the easiest way to change to a compact. But there's also the BB30 gossamer chainsets (around £150), a different spider for the Cannondale c/set might be cheaper though.0 -
not strong enough i suspect!
I have emailed Cannondale to ask about this spider business.

I'm pretty sure you can get an adapter which will mean the BB30 can take a "standard" chainset (68mm English). If you do end up going down this path you may want to do some more reading as I believe for some frame types (carbon fibre I think) it's a non-reversable process i.e. once the adapter is fitted then you can't get rid of it.
When I looked round ~12 months ago there wasn't that much choice I could see in after-market BB30 chainsets but the new FSA stuff will probably give you more choice now days.
