Groupsets and commuting

I have a real mix of old & new shimano & campy on my bikes and I can tell the difference when shifting under load such as hills or descents, most of the time my 105 performs perfectly but gets sketchy on really steep stuff, likewise the mirage and veloce clunk under load, the best kit I have atm is ultegra rear mech and shimano 600 index down shifters both perform perfectly in all conditions.
The best rear mech i've used so far was a SunTour VXR on my tourer i'd still be using it if I could find cheap replacement jockey wheels.
I also have an FSA/Cane Creek set up on one bike which is really nice just a shame they don't do shifters.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

For the rest, I have to say there's a noticeable difference in the shifting between Veloce (tifosi) and Record - the shifts are faster, more crisp, more silent, more exact...
Should also shift more smoothly under heavy load: accelerating on a climb. sprinting, commuting*
*well, what did you expect me to say?
I had a Campag drafting fairy for a while tonight along the embankment. I could tell because each time he shifted he was drowning out Bronski Beat on my MP3 :evil:Bike1

Mongrel mix of Deore, old Deore LX, SLX, Bontrager cranks, and SRAM cassette/chain on my only bike which serves as commuter and sunday best for the mo.
The commute/tour MTB I'm building up is going to be straight Deore.0 -
big heavy green hybrid - very much of the short distance with a load of stuff, it gets almost zero done to it, has a mixture of scram and shimano ie twistgrip shifters which i hate, and cheap tourney stuff, it does the job which is what it's for, ie it's not a fun ride it has bomb proof tires etc.
it's pritty wrecked now though lot of the drive chain is shot, as i'm a man of leisure at the mo have to see if i can fix and replace some stuff...0 -
I am currently running 2 x 8 sora which is right on the money atm, its reliable and cheap to maintain.
As certain parts go i am looking at the 105 level just because its probably a bit better made so will survive better but given the wear and tear from commuting i wouldn't go any higher TBH.Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
