Whats best for Downhill Training

Hey all.... since I am new to getting into a bit of downhill... (yes I am slow at the moment).

I was wondering apart from doing the runs what are the best training exercises that I could do in the old gym to get the power up?

I was thinking just sit ups and press ups, but if any of you do downhill and train in the gym specifically for it can you let me know whats best? Eg for explosive power, throwing the bike around etc....
Dont wanna end up some kind of Jean Claude Van Damage kinda dude.
