Can anyone help me decide on a 40-50mm stem?
are any of these fantastic or awful

I'm just after something strong and well made, that will let me lift the front of my bike and quicken up the steering.

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford?

is £35 your budget?
I've got an excellent Hope 50mm 0 degree rise stem. It's a bit more expensive at £59, but it's a "fit and forget" product.
To be honest, I've never used any of the products you listed so can't comment on them.0 -

Yeah I get the compromise, that is why I can only really justify £35 or so (as it might not be perminant), The type of riding I do has no climbs but loads of fast bumps, rocks and roots where lifting the front is more important so really need to rehone my old BMX skills-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
