Wrong size frame

Just wanted to share my frustration with someone.
I have been researching a new bike frame for months and decided to go for a version of the Pedalforce RS2 frame ( same as the Ribble Sportive) I found you could get the same frame from Taiwan but with an intergrated seat post. It's been on order for weeks and weeks and they finally sent it two weeks ago. It subsequently ended up staying in customs for nine days and I picked it up from the parcelforce office today having paid £100 duty and taxes. Only to get it home and unwrap it I find they had sent the wrong frame size. I'm absolutely gutted and I bet they tell me they have run out of the right size. And how do I get a refund on the customs fees?any clues?
Just needed to get it off my chest.

Fuzzdog, I'd be gutted too.
f***ing government! they put tax on tax! TBH I have no idea what you should do, but would it be worth trying to sell it asap, before your deadline to return it runs out? Then just cut your loss' and put down as a lesson learned?"I spend my petrol money on Bikes, Beer, Pizza, and Donuts "

All i will say is be careful that you dont end up paying two times if you do get a new frame sent.
and this is one of the risks you take trying to save a penny or two."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sell it on ebay to recoup maybe ?
I'm afraid that this is one of the risks of getting a bargain. Bet its a lovely frame though ? Any pics ?0 -
If you do sell it via Ebay, make sure you use a PayPal approved courier with electronic proof of delivery/ signature (incase of INR) - just a tip. With a high-value item, read-up a bit on Ebay and protect yourself as much as possible regards the transaction.
(that's if you do decide to use Ebay)0 -
Thanks for the tips.
No photos as I put it straight back in the box in disgust.
I have had a reply to my e.mail to the seller in taiwan who appears in this first instance to be denying that it is the wrong size.
It's also different from the description and photos on the website. I doesn't have the curved seat stays that you see on the ribble and pedalforce. and also has different forks than the one's expected. sellor is now trying to tell me that these details are no different from the frames on the website. It beggers belief frankly. The website goes in to great detail on the curves and their comfy attributes and now he denies that they ever existed.0 -
Caveat emptor....
If you wanted a Pedalforce, why didn't you buy one from them, not some guy in Taiwan? If you'd done your research, you shouldn't have been surprised at being levied vat and duty on a direct import.
The problem will be the cost of returning it to Taiwan - shipping £70, plus the return shipping for the replacement.
Suggest you sell this frame to recoup your costs and buy another from a more reputable dealer.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Go through the PayPal claim process, you should be able to get your money back! It will be painful and long but if item is wrong size and also doesn't match description you have a winner there.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

might be worth checking your house insurance, or any other avenue for free legal advice- and name & shame the B*********** on the internet - that usually does the trick !0 -
Yep coach H thats the one.
Do you still want a black carbon frame size 52cm0 -
I wasn't surprised by the taxes monty dog. I was expecting to pay that much. I am gutted about the size thing simply because I have done a huge amount of research only to be let down by a typo at the other end.0
