No more Pitch or Prophet..

Hello again,
So after being gutted when the Pitch Pro became no longer available it now seems my second and now preferred choice the Prophet 2 is gone... no more.
OUCH!
Any advice out there for a similar all mountain rig? After 140mm travel ideally sub £1500..
Had originally looked at the Spesh FSRs but not sure that they would cut it.
Thinking possibly a Commencal Meta 55.3..
Thoughts and advice appreciated.
for the record, it seems Freeborn Cycles 01403251252 have small and XL Pitch Pro's available still....

those are both good reasons to own a full sus bike at the 1000 quid mark, the mongoose looks particularly good value if judging on a spec sheet, im sure the mogoose free drive system reviews well too.0

HI
Sure the prophet 2 and 1 at evans cycles0 -
It does, always had great reviews, and won tests before.
But GT and Mongoose just don't seem as fashionable today - good for reductions, so gains to many people!
A full bike there for less than the price of an Orange 5 frame!0 -
Halfords do our cycle to work.. ARSE
Evans seem sold out too at the moment. Halfords cycle to work team told me supplies have dried up.
Cheers for the suggestions, looking now0 -

if i was in the market for an all mountain bike, i would seriously consider that mongoose, if for no other reason thn it is lovely looking! but with that spec it offers amazing value and the sus is tried and tested and from a big name in mountain bikes.
its a leap of faith to buy without getting a test but im confident that well specced bikes tend to be pretty good.0 -
Old Cheesey bought the GT Force 1.0 they were doing for 1199 - similar spec but with a Fox Float RL fork - amazing deal!
Almost worth buying them to strip!0 -
Why don,t you get a pitch comp and get the lbs to upgrade the rear shock to the rp2 and also you can up grade the fork by fitting a motion control circit to it. all the rest of the stuff will ware out and you could upgrade in time this is what i did and only paid 990 for it.0

Whats the crack with the motion control circuit? What does it do and how much etc....'11 Cannondale Synapse 105CD - FCN 4
'11 Schwinn Corvette - FCN 15?
'09 Pitch Comp - FCN (why bother?) 11
'07 DewDeluxe (Bent up after being run over) - FCN 80 -
Adds adjustable compresiion damping to the fork - with lockout and blow off adjuster.0

Just tested a Commencal Meta 5.3, really nice bike.
Cheers for all the pointers y'all..
Not sure I'd ever go for a Mongoose, never really heard much shout about them for years. GT's are definately an option.
Any more for any more?0 -
Mongoose and GT are owned by the same parent company ;-).0
-
definatel dont write off the mongoose for the sake of the name, you se plenty bout and they always review well, plus, just look at it!! its a mega looking bit of kit.0

Full XT groupo at merlin is 700 quid too!0
-
Both are great bikes, as SS said I bought the 2008 1.0 for £1200 - couldnt not believe the spec on it, and a good weight too.... Pauls sold out on the strength of ss's recommendation methinks...
The 2.0 is a great bike at a great price, just with LX instead of XT kit and a slightly diff fork.
people for some reason get worried about the name of the bike, GT and Mongoose have both been around for years, both of the bikes got great reviews and I can say that the GT handles superbly.....0 -
Cheers chaps.
Got me thinking for sure. I have a GT ZUM commuter bike and it's a great ride.
