Afternoon,

A guy I work with has just given me a Mavic Open 4 CD fron wheel. I've not seen them before nor do I know much about them. Does anyone know whether these are any good or not?

Cheers

The Mavic Open 4CD was made early 90's? and was the forerunner to the Mavic Open SUP which then became the Mavic Open PRO the current high quality road clincher rim from those militant French guys.

The Open 4CD was a good quality eyeletted rim in grey anodised finish but without the machined (silver) braking surface so a bit of 'bedding in from new' before you get smooth braking.

I think the first venture into semi aero rims from them.

The whole wheel depends on the hub and quality of build however.

  • Thanks Brushed,

The wheel seems visually true and when spinning it hold the QRS's there's not noticable wobble. There's no cracks on the rim itself, but it is a bit dusty...it's been in storage for a while.

I think I will keep it as a spare just in case I ruin my front wheel.
