I was cycling a small distance behind another cyclist this morning up Shirley Road towards Lisbon Road, lorry is pulling towards the junction to come out of there and as the cyclist gets about 6-8 feet from the lorry the driver just carried on out.
No waiting to check nfor traffic, no stopping at all. No signal from the cyclist to let him out. The poor guy had to brake hard, and luckily wasnt going too fast
Driver pulls up on the pavement to make a delivery at the little convenience store and as the cyclist is passing by he swings his door out just missing the guy. The lights had just turned red but the guy on the bike then nervously ran the red, I'm presuming to get away from the driver.
I stop at the lights turn around and politely say to the driver "You werent looking out for him were you." My god, you should have seen the face on the guy - it was like he wanted to kill me. :?
If I had my camera running (left it at home today) I would have had that on film. I didnt have a pen or anything either and am useless at remembering numbers. If it had been on camera I would have handed that one in to the Police.
Thats the first time I've seen a lorry driver behave like that here. Its usually average joe or joline that gives people grief here.

The day you leave it at home the day something happens...............
Luckily for this lorry driver you did forget it and more luckily the cyclist was not hurt.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.

I had a real heart in mouth moment when I saw it. Luckily I now carry a mobile..
Ahhh blimey! Just realised I could have used the camera on that to take his plates... The trouble with me is the adrenalin kicks in and I cant concentrate on anything other than the road...0 -
I bet you did. I don't have a head cam but my small Sony digital camera sits in it's Lowepro case secured in amongst the cables in front of the stem should I need it. It records moving images and sound as well as stills. I have a 4GB memory card and spare battery so I have about 2 hours worth of filming on one card and battery. It has proved very handy in the past. Aggressive drivers or idiots quickly disappear but not before I can record them and their vehicle. I perhaps would have got it out as like you my memory isn't that good and I can never find a pen in my panniers when I need one.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment.
