Depends if you are talking about the Altura Bear Suit, or the Assos Bear Suit. The Altura one leaks.

Hmmmmm... I suppose they'd stop you cutting your hands. Be the least of my worries falling off though! By the same token I guess you ought to ensure your entire body is clad in fabric of some kind... each time I've had an unscheduled dismount it's been arms and legs that have suffered.

Also, being too hot makes me grumpy. So there. :D

They also stop your bartape from getting gunked up with sweat, provide better grip on tape and hoods and cushion your hands. I never ride without a pair.

If I didn't wear gloves my hands would be the same texture as some very cheap very tough leather. I'd also have dry (perhaps peeling) skin on the uderside of the knuckles at the base of the fingers. Otherwise known as crocodile hands...

I wear mits or gloves so my hands are fairy liquid-baby's bottom soft....

Or canoeing (I still have a lump on the top of my thumb from where the paddle used to go)

Or sailing (off on the tallships again next week as a deckie - thick wet ropes and not allowed gloves as you can end up being dragged into the rigging if they get caught in the lay of the rope)

Well there are some advantages. You can save money on oven gloves, for example.
