HI
I'm looking to buy my first full sus bike. I have looked around at a number of bikes inc. trek ex8, stumpy, zesty, MV 5.7 but have found both of these on offer at £1500 (5 s/h. Rize new).
Mainly singletrack/ mess around in local woods in yorkshire with monthly trip to Dalby/ other trail centre - red trails. Considered 4" travel bikes but think a 5" bike would be plusher, and the slacker head angles will be more forgiving on bad lines. Also as I am 6'2" and weigh 15st i am concerned a lighter bike may suffer, though I am not a big hitter and don't go off drops over 3ft on purpose.
Any advice on these two bikes would be appreciated (or other options for £1700 budget)
If you have a 5 is an 18" frame big enough for someone 6'2" - i am more legs than body. I have only had a short ride on the 5 and chose the 18" as 20" felt stretched but wonder if i will get stiff on longer rides. Car park testing only of the Rize.

18" 5 here, I'm 5'9" with a 32" inside leg
I'd test a 18" & 20" just to be sure of which is the size for you. I felt too cramped on the next size down for me (16"), a little fettling of the saddle on a 18" (non layback post & moving the saddle forward on the rails a bit) and it felt pretty good
The 5 is pretty bombproof & is a right laugh round Dalby & the other trail centres I've been to on them

Hi thanks for the reply. I've managed to arrange a longer weekend test ride on the 5 and an all dayer on the rize so hopefully that wil sort out my questions. Fact that the 5 has "bombproof" reliability is a big appeal.0

As the 5 is second hand, make sure to give it a good inspection. Check for any cracks or dings in the frame (not little scratches, but areas of real damage). I'd also check to make sure it still has a serial number, but if they're letting you have a weekend test ride it's probably not "hot".0

Regarding the serial number this is located under the Bottom Bracket
Write this down and give Orange a call to see if stolen.
If the frame is scratched but frame ok. Send it to Orange and for
£ 150 they will spray it in a colour in there range and put new bearings
on the swing arm and put new Decals on the bike too.0 -
