Toe hits front wheel

I don't have the same problem on my MTB and touring bike, but on my Spesh Allez Elite, with my cranks parallel to the ground, if I turn my front wheel tightly, my toe catches it (although this has never happened when riding).

Is this normal for a road bike? Is it because the geometry is tighter? I keep meaning to ask another roadie when I'm out, but I can never catch them!

Cheers
Chris

i think it's fairly normal - and yes related to the geometry and frame size.

It happens on two of my three road bikes - can't think of it happening on my trek pilot (except with mudguards - my toe can catch them)

i can't think of a time when it has caused me a problem though - even on my fixed gear - but some people really don't like it and see it as a design fault.
  • Phew. Thanks very much indeed chaps.
