What spec suits me?

Hi everyone at Bike radar,
Im new to Mountain Biking, loving it though on a little Trek 3700. Doesn't quite cut the mustard though i'm afraid. Looking to upgrade and spend £500-£600.
My aim is to enjoy mountain biking and not get competitive. Im looking to do trails of easy to medium difficulty, so nothing heavy duty like jumping and crossing serious obstacles. Therefore can anyone give me their advice on what they would have.
I have looked at the Genesis 1.0, for what I want to do is it worth getting the 2.0 or will the 1.0 cut the mustard??

Both will be better than what you have - if you like the set up. If you can go for the higher spec.0
