Coming home from work I past a white van who was weaving in and out of the cycle lane. On passing I shouted "Move over".
Ten second later said van past within inches of my bars and cut me up.
I got most of the reg' and a good description of the van. How do I stand legally?
Incident happened at 11:20 on the 20th April travelling south on the Fareham road. Vehicle was a medium sized white van, the sort used by BT. Reg G* 57 XPP

If you feel a vehicle has been driven erratically, or the driver has put your safety in danger then you can indeed pop down the copshop and ask for advice. If they feel it is serious enough they can help you with a complaint.0 -
report it just in case said van has also been reported by other drivers/cyclists/pedestrians but don't expect too much action from the police.
Was it a company van? If so write to the company's MD copying in you local paper0 -
It's amazing the results you can get from writing to the office of a badly driven company car. My wife was reversed into in a car park by rep-man in his company Vectra. He was quite offensive and blamed my wife completely for somehow managing to move her car sideways into the back of his. He denied any blame to the insurers, until I wrote to the MD of the company. I received a very contrite letter back accepting full responsibility and apologising for any distress.
Not much use if there is no name on the van though.0 -
Did you suffer injury or loss? If not then no. Very little you can do, put it down to experience and ride on.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.
Think how stupid the average person is.......
half of them are even more stupid than you first thought.0 -

Car on car = serious. Car on bike = no one cares. Sad but true. Last year I had a HGV force me off the road, and I really mean force. He gave me 2 options. 1: throw myself off the road. 2: be run over by him. I'm sure he was too close to have even been able to see me through the windscreen he was so close (he HAD seen me before, he made me aware of this by sounding his air horn several times) I went to the cop shop and the women looked at me like I was a piece of filth. I asked if I should get a report number or something. She told me someone would be in touch. Nothing. I'm pretty sure she threw the report form (an official one I collected from the station) in the bin the moment I walked out of the door.0 -
