I have been looking at buying a £1,000 road bike, did want a Boardman team carbon but am increasingly unhappy with Halfords and not sure one would be delivered within the next year. I have been to a local bike shop and they suggested a 2007 Gian TCR3, do you think this would be a good buy or is the boardman better? Any other suggestions greatly appreciated, travelling around 100 mile per week.

The next year? What makes you think it would take that long?Cannondale F500

They have run out of stock and can't say how long it will take once ordered.0

Ive ordered one and have been told end of April, possibly first couple of weeks in May (one of the Halfords in Edinburgh).
For the record I dont know anything about the Giant, but the Boardman Team Carbon reviews have been excellent and it has a good spec.Cannondale F500

I have a 2008 Boardman Team (not as posh as the carbon version) which is an excellent bike, let down by Halfords/Bikehut. Boardman cycles need to consider who is going to sell their Bikes if they want to make an impact on the cycling community.0

I agree, all the bike reviews look great, managed to sit on one and was really impressed but have no real knowledge to work from. I'm just not getting any reassurances and from reading blogs should really expect more than sitting on bike with low tyre pressure, no pedals and loose headstock. Suppose if I put the order in must then get an expected delivery date? but should I believe it? Given concerns thought must be worth checking out other options.0

If you do order and aren't confident setting the bike up properly (or aren't confident that it will be done properly by the shop) ask on here for advice on a decent bike shop local to you and get them to PDI it. Well worth the £20-£35 it will cost.
BUT...... back to the original question....
The Giant TCR, if it is a 2007 version at a bargain price, will probably be worth the cash more than the Boardman. You'll also be more likely to get a discount as the shop will want rid. Plus you'll get it set up right first time0 -
The TCR is discounted down to £970ish and they say won't drop any further but seen on Internet they dropped down to half price (£724) in may 2008. I can get a 9% discount through work for Halfords so the boardman would be £910?0
