Avid V-Brakes

After replacing the tektro v's on my dads aspect 40 and was wondering if the Avid single digit 7's with the speed dial 7 levers are that much better over the Shimano LX v's.
Set of LX brakes from Merlins are £34.95, to get the avid will cost £57.97 from CRC. If I went for the speed dial 7 with the single digit 5 brakes i'm looking at £45.97.
Just wondering if the avids are worth the price difference.

Probably not. More expensive V-Brakes tend to be due to the weight. The best way to improve performance is through the pads. Invest in a good quality pair.0

I do like Speed Dial levers though (and I upgraded to mine from LX). The infinite adjustment of leverage allows you to tune the feel precisely.0

Like the sound of the leverage adjustment on the avid levers, maybe i'll go for them with some LX brakes. I'll have to see what my dad likes the look of best and how much he wants to spend.
He might just give changing the tektro pads a change first to save some money.

Always had avid SD over shimano.
Prefered my SD 7's over XTR.0
