more annoying that i built it myself and had components bought for me by family for birthday. shocked the police actualy came round after only a few hours after ringing, but wont see it again probably

only shing light is an area about 2 mins away can be dodgy and i know a lbs owner lives near and said he gets offered a lot of bikes so will be straight to the shop tomorrow

just getting money together for new forks aswell :(

Try and get a shed shackle - you've got to bolt them down.......

Gutted for you. The bike owner ends up doing all the work such as visiting local shops and car boot sales too. :(

Thankfully I've not had more than a reflector stolen off the pedal as yet.

Have you whizzed round the local cash converters type places?

    You never know?

we rent the property and owner not too happy with us doing stuff like that, but we are moving soon

have emailed all local bike shops. police said people from round here will try sell it on locally and one of my only saving graces is i know someone who does get offered a lot of bikes cos he works in a bike shop

im really hoping they take it into a shop to get a front mech put on, cos i doubt very much they will be able to do it themselves.

i feel lost, would usually do everything on bike, i refuse to get buses and cant be assed to use car sitting on drive.

how annoying im off work all week, with no bike with glorious sunshine

to be honest if it was recovered i couldnt use it, would have to break it down and sell it but its just the fact i built this bike to help me learn bike mechanics, and to clean and maintain it properly and these scroats will just sell it for some drugs

police who came round was a rider and when i said it had no front mech he said thats strange, and would be a good thing to notice if they suspected anything dodgy

Pawn shops are usually required to notify the police of everything they take in (or at least, they were back home, I think it might vary from council to council). So as long as you gave the police a decent description and serial nos, etc. it should turn up if they try that.

cheers for that. hopefully you mean birmingham as back home

didnt have the serial number, put it in a safe place lol

but gave a hefty description and its not a stock bike, in fact only frame and forks are from original purchase

rang up few local bike shops and emailed them description

its wierd cos if i do get it back dont think i could ride it knowing some slimeball had nicked it, prb have to break it down,m but at least saves on insurance

havent been round local pawn shops etc but think its long gone

did have police get me go and identify a bike similar to mine in a way but the ironic thing was it was actually better than mine but still straight away said no and looked gutted, bet some people could just say it was theres

anyway i dont understand how some little rat can nick my pride and joy and all the hassle it puts me through, constant phone calls to insurance, insurance premium rising as a result, spent last 2 hours getting screen shots of all receipts for parts and photos ready to email to insures, surely its not right having to do all this

now got to wait for 3-5 working day sfor insurance to make decision, its just not cricket

Gutted for you mate. Hope it does return back to its rightful owner. Out of interest, how many on here use the Datatag system? It seems a small price to pay if the chances of recovery are much higher.

very true, no good day to have a bike nicked

i dont use the datatag system although i may get something similar on next bike as it will be a standard road bike so there may be quite a few about, mine was very unique before so easily noticable, the fact that its a mountain bike with no front mech on is distinctive enuogh lol

only shining light is just awaiting cycle to work vouchers to come

Just had my 2 month old bike stolen last night. I was walking home with it when 2 guys on a scooter zoomed past really close and grabbed it off me and sped on! My friend (who was with me) and I were stunned. There were fair few people around also. That's the second bike taken from where I live this year. Not sure I can keep being bothered to replace it.

I think when these little scroats are caught they should be made to pay back all the insurance money thats had to be divvied up...

...there again they'd prolly steal that too.

  • Hi Mate,

Sorry to hear you have had your bike stolen. I can understand how you feel, the same thing happened to me yesterday.

I am now putting mine in the house, it's the best place and even locking it up too!

Apparently in my area there have been lots of reports recently of Bikes being stolen.
  • andy

Gutted for you :( - out of interest how was it locked?

Just intered to know which locks people have had when they've had their bike nicked, as its something I'm paranoid when taking the bike into town. Happy that its secure at work, but still never comfortable leaving it locked up in the street. Perhaps watching vids on youtube of people cutting through locks like a knife through butter doesn't help :?

my new bike definitely being moved into the house now. even considering an extension being built to house bike and rabbits so something for me and the better half

i had been on a ride few days before and got back tired and left lock in bag. was locked in the shed, they couldnt get through the locks on there so decided to tip the bloody thing over, its a purpose built bike shed

with new bike coming i have a granit x plus lock so will feel safe when out and about

a gt bmx got nicked the same night as mine around the corner
