I need to buy all round new cables. inners and outers. brakes and gears. the whole lot. and a mate of mine just shifted out £30 or so for the dura ace set. but is it really worth £30? I just don't see it tbh :? anyway, does any one else use dura ace sets or a MUCH cheaper alternative? if so, any recommendations would be a great help...

Probikekit own brand cable sets are just over seven quid post free. They are out of stock at the moment, but I have always found their gear to be good quality and I am waiting to order a set when they come in.

I use Campy Record. Recently my front derailleur cable needed replacing - I went to my LBS who only had a budget one for £1.99. Since I needed one urgently I went for it and fitted it myself.
I have to say, I cant tell the difference between that and the rear cable which is original Campag record cabling.
I guess time will tell, but initial thoughts are your paying for the brand
    Isnt a cable a cable?
Although my friend tells me to change to the Gore Ride on cables - but not convinced as yet.

Go for a clarks teflon cable for about £2.50 each for the gears. I had them on my old MTB and the shifting was smooth.
