We were out on our club run today and some of us opted to ride up the big climb out of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, on Dartmoor obviously. I was telling the lads how I watched Chris Boarman win the National Hillclimb Championship on it in 1991 using a fixed-gear bike with a Campag rear disc.
Does anyone know what his winning time was? I can't find it on t'interent.
Would be nice to put in my write-up from the day - pics on our website by the way, if anyone wants to see us grovelling up it, unlike Mr. Boardman.

Sorry I meant 1990. The lack of oxygen has effected my brain!
Yeah, I'd already been to that website and quite a few others. It's the time for the hill that I'm after. Tried the CTT site but no joy.0 -
Think you were right first time with 1991

Like the photos, looked good in a Manchester Wheelers jersey0 -
I'm pretty sure it was 1990 when it was run at Widecombe. I've been to all those websites plus a few more. Boardman won the Hillclimb Champs from 1988-1991. I'm still looking for the time for the Widecombe Hillclimb?0

Just got this reply from Ian Cleverly at Cycling Weekly.
4’10’’ from Mr Boardman. It was indeed a fixed wheel Cougar but with a Zipp rear disc. Second placed Steve Marchant was 10 seconds adrift.0
