Xt front ring assembly

I have just taken apart my XT Chainring assembly to give it a good clean but the chain started getting stuck moving from middle to top ring. I have sepaerated the middle and top rings again and have noticed an arrow on the middle ring but I don't know where this should align to. Now that I have reassembled the two rings the shifting is much better. I'm just concerned that it still might not be 100% correct.

there should be a long (1 1/2cm) metal spike coming out of the big ring, if goes in the hollow of the crank arm!0

Thanks a lot, the bumps seemed to fit quite nicely but I've just been to the shed to check the pin on the outter ring and it's 180 degrees out. I'll spin it around later.0

The pin is there to stop the chain getting wedged between the crabk arm and sprocket if the chain comes off over the top. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
Thanks guy's, just spun it around. The arrow on the middle ring made me think I was missing something serious. The pin thing on the top ring, I'll never forget.
Thanks again)
