Hi
I am about to get back into riding and am looking for a half decent hardtail.
I would like a fairly light bike with hydraulic disc brakes and good forks, gears etc.
So, I have been looking around at new for around £300 to £425 but was also thinking about a higher spec bike but second hand?
Any advice?
Cheers

I'm also looking for a bike around £400. I've been looking for a while now and It seems that all new bikes are ridiculously expensive due to the economic downturn blah blah blah. Second hand seems like a good idea although it can be hard to know what treatment the bike has had. I am going to buy from my local bike shop so if anything goes wrong it can be sorted straight away. Worth the premium I think.0

I have found a nice 2007/08 Spesh. Rockhopper Pro Disc.
Looks pretty good, what are your thoughts?
I havnt tested a Spesh frame for size yet, would a 17 inch be large (im only 5ft 6) ?
