It was my first serious bike, i got it after a friend got knocked off my cheapo racer and the insurance payoff meant I could afford a decent bike, I seem to remember it was deep red and had 531 tubing but other than that I don't remember much else. It must have been fairly good as i regulary rode sub 24mins for a 10TT on it. Any info or pointers would be great, have tried googling but not much came up.

I knew someone with a Jaguar back in the early 70's. It was a 531 frame and red but it was not a Dawes, it was a Phillips. It had a close ratio Sturmey 3 speed. I rode it for a hostelling week-end from Cheltenham into mid-Wales, the owner preferred his other bike which had a 4 speed hub with 1st gear out of action because it was still lower in 2nd than the Jaguar in 1st. I loved the close ratio Sturmey, there was hardly any difference between 2nd and 3rd.
I am certain that it was a Phillips, in my mind's eye I can still see the writing on the down tube.0 -
Mine was definatly a Dawes and if I remember it was a 12 speed at least as none of my mates had bikes of more than 10.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?
