Is there any amount of rider error....

Which can cause the pedal to snap right off?
Was going up a short semi steep hill stood up. Was in low gear and wasn't straining at all hard. You can see that the thread has just snapped off inside and the pedals come out.
Taking it in tomorrow after only 3 rides - just hoping they don't blind side me with a, 'well you shouldn't have done.....'
Was doing so well as well! Had already finished a looong gentle hill which I couldn't manage the time before

Cant see how unless its really old, poor quality and crash damaged.0

If you can post a pic it would be helpful, but if I understand you correctly, I can't see why this would happen through any reason other than a manufacturing defect in the pedal.0

erm can't post a photo clear enough, basically you know threads, (the spirals u get on nails etc which help lock them in.
They lock together, the pedals have snapped off together and instead of being threaded its now smooth. The place where you would screw in new pedals if you had them,
so instead of looking like: /\/\/\/\/\/\ on a cross section it looks like
And its a brand new bike out of the shop 4 days ago - done ~40miles0 -
In engineering terms the thread has stripped.
The pedal may not have been tightened up enough and as you've been riding its worked loose stripping as it goes.
This sometimes happens on really cheap 'Halford' type bikes just 'cos they're rubbish.
Its not your fault.
Bad manufacture or poor fitting.0 -
AH, stripped thats the word i spent ages looking for lol. God so long since I did metalwork in schoolThis sometimes happens on really cheap 'Halford' type bikes just 'cos they're rubbish.
Its not your fault.
Off to Halfords tomorrow
Already saving up money for a ~£1,000 bike, just that I'm on a temp contract atm which may/may not turn Perm so kind of waiting for that to be clear before i gouge out my bank account0 -
If it's 4 days old there's no argument - either it was defective in the first place or it wasn't fitted properly prior to you taking delivery and it stripped the thread by working loose. Either way, don't even begin to acccept some of the blame, unless of course you fitted the pedals youself, then you might be on stcky ground.
Remember pedals are left & right hand threads, so they may have been fitted on the wrong sides, although the effort to fit them would have made it blindingly clear that something wasn't right.

You should get no arguments from them - either the thread stripped as a result of incorrect installation, or it wasn't tapped properly in the first place.0

Halfrauds monkey must have crossthreaded it. Demand a new crankset0

They replaced it and adjusted the gears didnt even ask any questions or ask for a receipt to show it was still in warranty
Took it out for a ride and knocked off 11 mins off my previous time Still terribly slow. Leg muscles are still little babies0
