Has anyone got any experience of this wheel set? They look reasonably decent from what the road.cc review says. I'm looking for a wheel that's light for climbing, and aeroish and they might fit the bill. I can get some at £280ish which is a bonus. The only downside is that I've heard a few bad things about the ultegra hubs.

Cheers :)

I don't have any experience with them mate so can't comment on their quality but heard they're decent - I am intersted where you can get them from at £280?

    Thanks

Can't comment on the wheels but I've used Ultegra hubs on my handbuilts. They were actually recommended to me on the basis that, as far as groupset hubs go (i.e. not including specialists such as Hope and DT Swiss etc.), they're very good and easy to maintain. In my short experience of using my wheels (approx 500 miles) the hubs have been trouble free.

What bad things have you heard about them?

    Cheers

I've just heard that the design isn't particularly amazing. That's probably in comparison to slightly more expensive hubs so isn't really gospel. I'm afraid the wheels at that price are pretty unlikely to appear on the web...sorry.

Thanks for the advice so far.

Right I'm now a bit confused. I can't find anything on the shimano website about this wheelset. However they appear to be the WH-7850-SL, but with Ultegra sl hubs. More confusingly the RS80's appear to be the same weight as the WH-7850-SLs despite the different hubs.

I'm confused. Is this actually bizarre or am I just being stupid and missing something here?

They haven't officially released the indivdual weights for the separate wheels, yet - Apparently the rims are coming in at a superlight ~ 390g (they're the same/similar rims to the 7850 CL's from what I remember - but with lower spec hubs than the CL's) and probably lighter (rims) than the scandiums. I'd love a pair of the RS80's. Been saying for some time that they're going to be a big hit (we'll see in time).

It’s the most beautiful sport in the world but it’s governed by ***ts who have turned it into a crock of ****.

1486g with skewers for the RS80s at approx £390 vs 1380g for the DA 7850 C24 CLs at approx £550-560. Tough call but personally I would go for the 7850s ...

True they aren't as light. But, since that weight appears to be purely in the hub, maybe it isn't an incredible issue performance wise? I think I'm going to go for the RS80s as they fit my budget the best. However, there is a slight issue in that Madison haven't had them in stock since November...I think I'll just have to put my name on the waiting list.
