Hi I have just purchased a set of Shimano 105 ST-1055 shifters which I understand are operated as 8 speed.

Could anyone tell me if these shifters will work with a 105 9 speed rear mech and Hollowtech 2 chainset.?

Are there any pit falls to watch out for when matching different shimano sets.?

Thanks all. :?:

Will work ok if using an 8 speed cassette.

Ok on both counts, but obviously the shifter will only index across 8 sprockets
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Thanks guys, appreciate your advise.

Is there any complications to setting these up? I have yet to find some cables etc - How do i get instructions to fit and set these up. I am fairly handy on the spanners and would like to do this myself?

    Thanks again. Martin.

Try Shimano's website for service instructions. It might not matter if the STI's on the instruction aren't the ST-1055 model as the ideas should be similar.
