What's best?

("best" = protects bike and reasonable value to buy)

1. Bike box
2. Padded bike bag
3. Cardboard box and bubble wrap
4. CTC clear plastic bag

I'll be bringing the bike back from Paris on the plane and unlikely to use a box/bag very often but given those surly French baggage handlers should I go to the expense of buying a box or will they appreciate the craftmanship of my carbon beauty and take care of it if its in a plastic bag?

All advice/sharing of previous experiences gratefully appreciated

I would take the plunge and go for a padded bike bag. Get one with wheel bags (for added protection) and wheels for pulling it along!!

I'm sure the 'craftmanship' will be the first thing that a frenchman would appreciate.. However the Uk baggage handlers for the most part wouldn't even look at what they were hurtling onto the conveyer.. and thats before you consider the thieving scumbags who hang around arrivals (someone had my bike away from Stansted it havng 'apparently;' made its way to oversize baggage before me!!!

You can pick up a decent bike bag for under £100 from wiggle. I personally use a DHB bag for trnsporting everything from my TT bike to my downhill MTB rig
Never knowingly past a pie shop!
