Can anyone make any recommendations for a bike for a 5 year old that isn't an Isla bike. I can't afford to spend that much.

    I know you say you can't afford an Isla, but they should get a very high resale value (and I think Isla do part exchange, also).

    Try this;

    Had one for my daughter, not too heavy and gets them used to gears.

    Giant MTX 125 rigid....lightweight alloy frame, 5 gears, mudguards, kickstand and bell, alloy v-brakes, alloy wheels, 5 speed gripshift, £145.

    Or if you can stretch to it, Giant XTC Jnr Lite, very lightweight frame, rigid forks, £225.
  • May be a bit late here but am looking to sell my daughters CNOC 16 Isla Bike which is just about 2 years old now and she is moving on to bigger things

    You may want to check the Isla site re sizing for your 5 year old

    In excellent nick (photos if you wish) and stabilisers and mudguards available if wanted. New Tektro V front brake as problems with old one, has back pedal rear brake. Has been great for my girl

    was looking for around £60 plus postage (approx £10 I believe) but open to discussion

    Let me know if interested
  • I like the look of that isla, have a tall 3 year old that would love that.
