I think the general consensus for a grand is specialized. Either the Pitch Comp or the FSR XC Comp. Both great bikes but just for different riding styles.0
-
guess i will have to go try them out then :]
thanks0 -
Check the full suss sticky at the top of this forum. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
The Pinnacle Tharpu Peak 3.0 (like mine, link in sig) is on at evans for £1,000 at the moment. People are going to think I work for Evans or Pinnacle soon, but it is honestly a cracking piece of kit with a spec you will find very hard to beat for the same price. Got cracking reviews on this very site.
Only available in Medium though.0 -
If you look in the classified section I have a brand new (month old) 2008 GT Force 1.0 that I may have to sell due to impending redundancy
It's £200 over budget (£1200) but it's a £2k bike!!!
Nothing out there for a grand that could touch it

i do like the look of the pinnacle but i would have to get a large. The GT looks good as well but i really cant push any further than £1000.0

I would buy the Spesh Pitch Comp from Evans, £977 at the moment in the sale, amazing bikeFull Susser - GT I-Drive XCR 5
Hardtail - GT Aggressor XC 2
Road Bike - GT GTR Series 40 -

Are you sure? How tall are you? I'm 6ft and despite the fact they say it only suits up to 5'10" My medium fits me perfectly with the seat up. Definately worth a look but definately need to try it out first.
Until I got this one, I ALWAYS went for large. I find that the medium suits my riding position perfectly. I got evans to replace the standard 90mm stem with a 100mm stem (which they did for free btw), small change but it makes a world of dirrerence.
The only problem you might find is actually finding an Evans store with one in stock. (unless you are Andres the Giant :P )0 -
FOCUS SUPERBUD 2008
If you can find one, I would even go as far as ship one in from the eu.
They are sweet and you wont beat the spec of fox and xt kit0 -
I would also reccomend the GT I-Drive XCR 5, it won last months 'Best MTB Under £1000' test, and i have one and i love it.Full Susser - GT I-Drive XCR 5
Hardtail - GT Aggressor XC 2
Road Bike - GT GTR Series 40 -
Got my Pitch Pro for £997, fantastic bike!Pitch Pro - http://heathy.pinkbike.com/album/My-Bike

take a look at some of the cube full susser they are really well speced for the price0
-
The Cubes do look really good but i cant find any below the 1000 mark. I really need to go and try some even if it as simple as ride position i cant make my mind up on the spec alone. Needs to feel good! :]
Im 6ft 3 so i reckon its going to be a large. I have long legs ! haha.
Where may i ask did you get your Pitch Pro for £997 ???0 -
rrp is 978.71 ish.... Had that confirmed by Spesh earlier in the week,'11 Cannondale Synapse 105CD - FCN 4

Recently I was considering a few different bikes, and after trying a few a got the Specialised FSR xc Expert - a fantastic bike that I haven't stopped drooling over yet! It has a retail price of around £1200, but after a bit of friendly bartering with my local dealer I got a brand new factory ordered one in my size for £998. Plus of course the current Spesh offer of 10% of free goodies of your choice (although I think this offer finishes soon).0
