hi all, I need some advice from you good people. I have a 07 rockhopper which up untill now hasnt seen much action, but after finding out im now over 15 stone (only 5'10") i decided get out on my bike more and shed some weight. now my problem is the tyres (i think) they are specialized resolution 26x2.10. my problem with them is, once i hit mud its like someones pulling me backwards and they dont seam to have much grip. now is this just because am fat and have no idea what im doing or are there better tyres out there.

There's plenty of winter/mud tyres out there - Bontager Mud-X and Panaracer Trailraker are 2 of the most popular.

  • no point buying winter tyres now because winter weather is pretty much over now, just keep on riding and youll get fitter and tyres wont bother you.

Real mud tyres are probably overkill... A sensible allrounder like a nevegal or high roller in 2.1 or thereabouts will cut mud reasonably well and offer decent push without being so draggy.
