The only thing that puts me off the Bianchi is the weird downtube. Looks kinda odd.

As I said I know what you mean.
I can't help thinking Bianchi have 'taken it too far', after hitting on a great shaped sportive bike. Luckily for me I smile when I see the new 928 C2C, cos I have an older one. I can't begin to imagine what life would be like, the other way round!!!.

You deffo need that 'ride me now' feeling.

My Bianchi is the only think I have EVER properly maintained 2 years on, without getting bored or fidgety.

Oh my god dude, just read your blog. That is nasty. What a horrific injury.

You ok? You must be in pain. I feel really bad now as my problems seem minute compared to yours. All i'm thinking about is being able to get a bike, and you must be dying to get back on one.

Sorry dude! Get well soon eh!

Lol....I just had a look as I was curious....Ouch!! broken in 3 places.....Could probably have been quite a bit worse.

Mr g....why are you asking for people's opinions....ultimately the decision is yours and the ride is coming second to looks by the way I read your previous posts. I doubt any of us will have the same taste in bikes. What happens if the stunning bikes you are looking at just aren't comfortable? Will it still shout "ride me!" if you know it won't be fun? Why not just buy a cheaper bike and then use the difference to get some free stickers from cereal packets.....add some flashing spoke thingies and put a strip of tinsel around the handlebars instead of bar tape. Then go to a charity shop and get a little britain style granny dress and go out in drag. It's easy to get people to look at you without spending £1500 quid....
And yes I am jealous that I can't just spunk £1500 quid on a bike before anyone mentions it!

Lol dude. Thanks for such an insightful post. Made me laugh literally out loud.

It's not the fact that i want people to look at me, more the fact that when people do i don't want to think that i look like a complete and utter wolly. I mean lycra bib shorts and a slim fitted top, along with weird shoes which clip into the pedals arent an everyday thing to me. I feel somewhat of a woman when i've got the gear on.

So at least if i feel comfortable when i ride the bike & with what it looks like to me, then that surely is a plus and makes me feel a bit better about looking like a woman. LOL.

I've been the same since childhood. Always wear nice clothes (lacoste polo's, diesel jeans......etc). So that carries onto anything i do. I like to make an effort with myself. There is nothing wrong with that.

My main aim here is to get fit. So i think that buying a bike is the way to do that. I wish to spend around £1500 on a nice looking/riding bike. Now i'm not stupid and realise that the choice i make will be based on those two facts. The reason i was asking opinions and advice is because:

    1. I know nothing about road bikes, groupsets, geometry.
    2. I like to ask peoples opinions because i'm indecisive!

I'm sure that there must be 1 bike which fits what i want from it. Ride quality/looks can't be that hard to find for £1500 surely.

Can't help your jealousy mate. Life is life, i work hard, hardly spend any money cause i never seem to have any. So my little splash outs on things i love (watches, cars, bikes, gadgets) make me all the more happier in this shitty situation we call life!

Are lacoste polo's and diesel jeans nice?

    Always one......

Not going to get into a pointless argument on clothes, seems there are a minority who take things people say literally.

My wife and I both work hard too but we are saving to try and move house while the market is depressed so all extra cash is going towards that at the moment. I also keep buying stuff for my current bike so I don't help myself :)
17 Stone down to 12.5 now raring to get back on the bike!

JE james is good value if you want to spend a bit more cos they do interest free finance and have a lot of deals going most of the time. I got a full ultegra Litespeed siena with Mavic Kysyrium SL wheels for £2600. Less the deposit I'm paying £50 a month for 3 years for my dream bike. If the stock isnt in, just give them a bell, they are very helpful. So you could use the £1500 as a big deposit and add some finance to it and get something blingtastic that screams RIDE ME and you will be a happy bunny.

I started out with a £500 Bianchi as my first roadbike in 07. I wanting to spend triple that but was pursuded by a couple of bike dudes to start with an 'entry level' then move up when you have a little more knowledge, and 'some idea' of what you like/don't like.
I'm of the opinion if your going into this blind, just go for the one that looks the best. Simples! Don't worry about anything else, just pick the best looking one!
As long as you get the right frame size you will be able to tinker with the set up to suit you. So I wouldn't worry to much of which is most comfortable? Comfy for one, not necessarily = comfy for another? After a while you can always change the saddle, handlebars, upgrade, etc to suit you. Even after much advice of others on this forum, when I brought a new bike, with 'some' knowledge my main thought was what does it looks like!
From what I've read you must go Italian? Maybe the Bianchi = history, exotic, looks, passion, etc
