Well i would say i am a "hardened" mountain biker and spend a fair bit on bikes / parts etc... but seen as my family is being started i can see (and have already seen) my cash flow that goes into bike stuff decrease, and also the time.... so because i like keeping fit from cycling i am considering getting into road cycling ....
So i was wondering how much would i have to spend for a half decent bike and anything else i will need to get started ..... i presume i would probs have to get some new clipless shoes and new jerseys etc....
any rough price estimates would be good (my partner says i cannot spend over £1000 on this bike as she was less than pleased at my last purchase)...
any recommendations on bikes would also be awesome..

if you use clipless already you can use SPD on road, you can get a half decent roadie for £400/£500 ish.
i'm another who has if not moved over at least road is my main bike, the only gotcha is brakes on a wet day road brakes are not impressive.
but the speed of a roadie is great. and in many ways the more simple? at least in some forms.0
