Can you please provide an example of this?

I would love to have the power of being clipped in via a clipless system whilst still retaining the easy get out of loose toe clips & straps.
TaDa!! http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping ... egory=1670 . From a USA site. I'm sure they're available in UK land as well.
What on earth do these achieve?

Surely this is like developing a product that enables you to listen to your CD's by connecting a special CD player to your iPod?

No No No. You don't twist the toe clips off with your feet attached, you leave them in the pedal. Just an option for when you need street shoes for errands or ? and don't want to carry your cycling shoes around.

I think the problem for the fashion conscious is that any form of strap may damage their shoes. Actually strike that, I think the problem for the fashion conscious is that they are fashion conscious.

In all seriousness the idea of fitting cleats to the bottom of something like a pair of all stars is a none starter. The soles are so thin that the cleats can't be recessed will stick out a mile, so you won't be able to walk on them. So you will still need to carry another pair of shoes. If you are so fashion conscious that you feel the need to carry on like that then there is little hope for you.
  • Then why not just have pedals with toe clips :P

I see the point it lets you take your feet out quick if you need to :)

BTW isn't the biggest issue with DIY shoes the fact that the sole you are mounting the cleat to, and the upper of the shoe has not been designed to have an upwards force on it?

Your run of the mill trainers are used to the biggest force being you lifting your foot of the ground, not the sole being stuck down and you trying to lift your foot.

Oh. Right. I'll look out for them on Dragon's Den - they'll come up the stairs right after the guy with the iPod retrofit idea.
