Most saddles are sythetic, using the likes of Lorica. I'd contact Fizik for a repair - a DIY job would look awful IMO.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

scuff or hole..? the two are a bit different.

If it's a scuff, leave it.

If it's a hole, leave it.

If it's a hole that makes the saddle unusable, grit your teeth, bin it and buy a new one...

I scuffed a Spech Toupe right through the top layer on the back edge in a crash. I just put a piece of black electrical tape over it. I haven't use it much since but when I have it held up OK. It was brand new.
    Pegoretti
    Colnago
    Cervelo
    Campagnolo

Just to see if they can organise to have it recovered and what the cost is - its one of the carbon railed saddles and it would be nice to have it as new. Thanks

Its took a turn for the worse guys on closer inspection the saddle base has a crack along one of the wings... so I reckon the suck it up and buy a new one may have to be the way to go....

Now I have a dilemma... do I claim on my insurance (with a £100 excess) and stuff my no claims for next year?

I would like a fizik to use my fizik saddle bag with ICS attachment... however credit crunch sense has now set in (and the misses says no more expense or she will kill me and i have a feeling she isn't joking!!)and to buy another Antares is a no go really... I did have an arione before but this ate (damaged) my shorts on the wingflex ribbing so that went back. I would really not like a Arione again as apparently my 'body is incompatible with it' (their words not mine)

So do I ebay my saddle bag 'as new'... and go for a Charge knife titanium instead or can any one recommend a more sensible/ cost effective light fizik saddle (perhaps a pave?) that won't crack in half with a slow speed off or scuff to hell if gently leant on a wall?

    Any ideas guys?
  • i got a pave cx on my new bianchi B4P and i love it. mega comfy, and ICS compatible, also i think you can pick one up for about £40?

Grey duct tape. Fixes everything and will give your bike that "I ride hard, fast, and
crazy" look. Put a wrap or two around a blade of your front fork and tell people you're waiting for a replacement fork. That will get their attention more than any all carbon, Super Record bike and not cost a thing.

I found the Aliante really comfy when I tried one on a MTB a while back. I'd definitely recommend that one

Psssst, don't tell anyone, but Fi:zi'k do repair and recover their saddles

Email them, tell them what happened, they'll probably want pics so be prepared and take some of the damage so you're right back at them with the pics. They'll probably ask you to send it to them in Italy (it'll take a while to get there - mine did :? ). The after a couple of weeks or less, they'll email you to say its ready and where do you want it sent.

Et Voila, one "as new" saddle

And if you're lucky like me, they'll do it for free (my really old original mark one Gobi's)

But remember, DON'T tell anyone else, they might start charging!
