Comfortable road bike with ability to take a rack? Any ideas

I am planning to do London to Paris (unsupported) in May and I currently have a second hand Genesis Day 05 which needs replacing. Could I get some recommendations on a road bike that would take a rack. Any suggestions most welcome.

    What budget?
    Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

    Giant Defy 2.5 would be my shout. At that sort of price they are by far the best VFM as they make most other brands frames too. Has the rack mounts and mudguard mounts and is a compact frame so a little more relaxed geometry than most

    My 08 Specialized Allez has the fittings for a rack. I don't know if the 09s do.
