Hi,

Picked this (i think) sirius frame up at the car boot today for a bargain £30! But im not sure how old it is, its use, value and how or what to build it up with? Any help and info would be great!

(sorry for the messy bike room  )

    Nice one!!!

Reynolds 853 tubing (was the best until 953 came out!)

It looks like a racing frame, if you can be bothered, get it resprayed and logo'd up at somewhere like Atlantic Boulevard.

Any groupset would be fine but I suggest a silver campag, silver open pro wheels.

If it is genuine 853 and is in good condition you have an utter bargain there IMO!

Looks like the chainset is worth 30 quid on its own. If it fits and is straight then you done good.

it looks like a aheadstem on a threaded headset.... which would be an interesting take on the two designs.

Not a clue! The stem / headset and lack of downtube shifters suggests fairly modern (as does the 853 steel)

Theres a classic and vintage forum onhttp://www.bikeforums.net where they may be able to shed some light. I'm very jealous!

853 frames are currently priced from 700 quid up to over 1000, more for a boutique brand custom (like vanilla, sachs, IF)

Nah - it's a bucket of crap, and you've been done. To help you out, I'll give you £20 and take it off your hands.

Sirius were based in Kingswinford, near Dudley, in the 80/90's - I think the micro was their low profile TT bike. Made very nice frames at the time, unfortunately closed down in the mid-late 90's.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Get it resprayed in a classic colour scheme with a designer label on it from Atlantic Boulevard then use it as a very nice road bike...

Don't get it repainted. It looks fine as it is and is still original. I would say it is from early to mid 90s as it has a threaded steerer and down tube gear lever bosses fairly low down the tubes as when they were used for levers. It is worth trying to get some period Campag to build it up as near original as possible.

The bars look like bullhorns from either a TT setup or a trendy fixie attempt, just looks like the stem was loose...
