Good article. It's a pity that they didn't put a link in for the guy's blog. I've e-mailed it to a bulky mate anyway, to see if it'll have any effect.

+1 Gaz is doing an amazing job!

Also just got this lovely quote from the page that lets you calculate your own BMI
The BMI is not infallible. For instance, it is possible for a healthy, muscular athlete with very low body fat to be classified obese using the BMI formula.

If you are a trained athlete, your weight based on your measured percent body fat would be a better indicator of what you should weigh.

So the BMI index that all these health professionals love to quote can actually be a bad guide! Did a quick calculation to get mine and whilst I fall in the healthy range I'm marginally outside the bracket that lives the longest

Agreed. Where I work I can put my hands on 3 BMI charts that variably put me as obese, overweight and normal (I'm 6 foot tall and weigh 92Kg clothed.
But I have lost a stone and a half :)

The only time I've had my BMI measured it was 25, making me borderline obese. I am carrying a few pounds, but there's no way I'm fat. The weight / height calculation has no way to tell that I've got chunky, muscular thighs.

Borderline 'overweight' , not obese . (insert obese smiley here)

BMI 25 is borderline normal, >25 is overweight, not obese

Like all formulae they are only a general guide.
My favourite pet hate is Cholesterol, another piece of medical BS waved around as fact in adverts for low fat spreads and the like.
The evidence of a connection between cholesterol levels and food intake, are flakey at best.
