v brakes

I'm looking for some mid priced V brakes, the candidates are shimano LX, XT avid s-d 5, 7. its been a while since i used V's. Is there any great differnece in the stopping power between them? from merlin i can get lx full kit for £35 and from Chain reaction avid 5's for £42.

Much of a muchness to be honest - comes down more to the pads and set up.

The parallel push ones provide a more linear action, and adjustable levers like Avid Speed Dial alter modulation and power.
