Brake levers for hard to reach brakes

My six yr old loves his new bike. It fits him fine but the brake levers are a bit hard to reach. Can anyone suggest some that he can reach easier.

What sort of brakes are they (make/model/picture?).

you should be able to slacken off the cable and fit in a spacer to move the lever closer to the bar, IIRC you want something on the cable between where the nipple is in the lever and behind the barrel adjuster, if that makes sense!

Now that i'm not sure of. It's only a cheap halfords bike. I'll come back to you.

Some brake levers have a screw for adjusting reach - like the screw with the spring in this one
