Hi all, first time poster but not first time MTBr. It is time to get ones fat butt into the saddle and my agged bear valley is pretty knackered. I am looking at 3 bikes which are all 2007 models and all Marins, which is all I have ever had in nearly 20 years on and off MTBing
The choices are Quake 7.1
Attack Trail
Wolf Ridge.
Am not the lightest of people and am 5.8 -9 on a good day.
Thanks all, really appreciated

so is this the 'we hate Marin club' then?
Cant beleive that nobody could give me a lil help help!0 -
So what sort of rising are you looking at doing? The Quake is a heavy hitting Freeride bike, the Wolf Ridge and Attack Trail more trail/AM rigs. I wouldn't want to be pedalling the Quake up too many hills!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

Blackspur, thanks for the reply dude, its appreciated.
So the quake is heavy because its a downhiller? Well, I will ride down some hills but not like a downhiller would!! I value my life!!!!
So the Attack trail would be considered more of an all rounder?? Thats sounds better for me i think0 -
marin mount vision?if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin
Stick your 'rules' up your a%se0 -
the mount vision 5.8 does look ace0

Well, have seen somwwhere that has the choice of 3 2007 models which are the Quake 7.1, Wolfe Ridge and Attack Trail. The two latter models are both Quad Tara and the Quake is a Quad XLT. I just dont fully appreciate the differences between the two ranges :?
Unfortunatly there are only 2009 Mount Visions and they are more £££ as would be expected0 -
all three look pretty hardcore bikes to me, hmm hills are gonna hurt.0

:? as in they are all good bikes or the hills are agoing to hurt ME?
:? :?0 -
They're all good bikes, but also big heavy thumpers, better suited to going down than up. So it depends on your riding, how strong you are and what you'll be riding down. The quake for sure is overkill for the huge majority of riding. 36lbs I think? So the big question is, what are you going to be bouncing over? Any more bike than you need just adds up to weight penalties.Uncompromising extremist0

I would definitely discount the Quake - doesn't sound suitable for your riding. The Wolf Ridge are Attack Trail are also pretty tough bikes and heavier for it. The Quad XC range (08s have various differnet names, 09s all called Mount Vision) and lighter still. So what sort of riding do you want to do?"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Well, no major downhilling.
Just general trail: south downs0
