Isopropyl alcohol

Gonna have a go at cutting down my brake lines on my elixirs - but haven't got any isopropyl alcohol, where can I get it? Or can I just use some vodka, got plenty of that!!

Maplin sell it in a handy aerosol can, it's stuipdly expensive but I still prefer it for the sheer convenience.

Anywhere that sells electrical/electronic equipment should have something similar in an aerosol spray - it might be called contact cleaner or something like that.

You can use aerosol brake cleaner for cars but DON'T get it on your pads. Failing that why not visit your LBS and get some bike-specific brake cleaner??

My Boots didn't, they told me it is now classed as a poison and couldn't sell me any. Got a small bottle from a box of junk somebody dropped of at the charity I volunteer at.

Lloyds chemists, sainsburys etc have all sold it to me, Lloyds being the latest one, you need to give them a good reason for needing it, but never had a problem

i went to a few chemists and they all looked at me a bit funny.

my dad is a pharmacist and he said he could get it "special order", so dont think most chemists stock it.

There isn't a chemist round here that doesn't sell Isopropyl alcohol, get it in 500ml plastic secure screw cap bottles for £5. I've never been asked why I want it, they just assume you're cleaning with it. Might go in looking rough as bears ass, slurring, see what they say.

Windscreen fitters use it to prep before sticking a new screen in,so might be worth trying your nearest autoglass or similar.
