That is a GREAT frame. I had that exact frame, I sold it. I think it may have been the most comfortable touring frame I ever had. It eat up the miles. The weak link was the stock saddle but I see you've sorted that. I like the white tape and saddle.
Here's a pic for you:
Not the best place to park a carbon frame I guess!0 -
great caption for the picture.....!
its a 2006, saddle had to go and the tape sets the bike off a bit more better i think.
do you know the price for the 5200 when it was new, i have heard it was around £2K but not sure if that is true.Trek 5200 oclv0 -
I bought mine in the US where bikes are much cheaper. I think I paid around US$3k. Must have been early/ mid 2006.

Hi. I came across the question in the forum about the trek 5200 from last year. Like some of you I have the 2006 anthracite model. I have the brochure for that year and the rrp was £1800. I got a 300 discount on mine. It has been a great bike. When you look at the newer bikes I doubt that there is much under 2k which compares (I mean a good U.S. built frame and full ultegra).
Apparently the 5200's production was stopped in 2005 but they brought it back for 2006 only, as the madone was not the initial success Trek had planned.0 -

I much prefer my 2005 series 5 OCLV frame to the 2006 Madone frame. The fin on the rear of the seat tube was ghastly in my opinion. :shock:0
