Epic Cycles

Having just received my shiny new Orbea Onix Vuelta off Epic cycles this morning, I would just like to sing the praises of this shop. I was unable to visit the shop due to work comittments and the fact that I live too far away, yet as soon as I registered my interest in the bike, I was kept in almost constant contact about the ordering process.
When it came to reassembling the bike this afternoon, I was talked through how to do it, and they didn't laugh at my front wheel fitting ability once. (At least, not while I was on the phone!)
Quality service deserves recognition. And Epic are quality.

+1. Very friendly bunch.
MrHulot -- I looked at the Solo a couple of years ago. Part of me still hankers after it. Nice bikeFCN 2-4.
"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
"It stays down, Daddy."

If you get it delivered, make sure you retighten the handlebars tighter than I did. They were as tight as I could make them. Then get someone stronger than you to do it too. Mine worked their way loose and slipped on a flat bit where I was doing about 17mph. Next thing I knew I was on the floor. I've bent in one of the hoods, scuffed the saddle and the handlebars too. Totally gutted- I've only had it 2 day and totally my fault. As for me, I've got big road rash down my arm and leg and broke my thumb. Cracked my helmet too, but lets not open that can of worms(!) More concerned about my bike than anything really. Still think Epic are great though! Not lost, just exploring...0

Gosh thats not a happy tale! Sorry you had to learn that one in a hard way and I hope it does not keep you off cycling for long. I have always been paranoid about that sort of accident since I was a 12 year old kid riding my friends chopper style bike downhill on a busy park road:
First one handgrip came off. So I tightened my grip on the other. And it came off. So there I was heading down the road with a handgrip in each hand but no control over the increasingly wobbly bike. I just couldn't think to let go of the grips in my hand and grab the bare handlebars! The bike went on the grass and was heading for some bushes and walls/fencing .. but luckily I had been doing judo lessons and had been practising `breakfall rolls' for hours so somehow I instinctively somersaulted myself off and landed without damage in time to watch the bike smash into a wall.
Staying with whats propped on headsets, I have just bought a stem from Epic. It had to be back-ordered and I have to say they gave me frequent updates as to its order progress. I can also recommend their service and demeanour.
I will be using a newly purchased torque wrench to install the stem. I had actually been thinking if I would bother with that detail. So thanks for the reminder!0 -
They're building it for me, and I am going up for a final sizing check, test ride and placing it lovingly in the back of my car and driving back to London... no way am I having it sent, don't trust the couriers! And they need to tell me how to clean it and sell me a torquey tool kit...

Simply the best service I've ever had from a bike shop when I purchased my Viner Mitus frameset. I was agonising over various bikes brands of bike but they happily spent what must total hours discussing the options with me and kept me up to date with delivery. Excellent brand knowledge.
To top it of, when it did arrive, the frame had some faults but they happily sent it back and got Viner to build and ship another one pretty quickly, considering they are hand built to order.
It makes all the difference when the guys have great knowledge and actually ride, race and organise events too.0 -
+1 fantastic service and knowledge, got to be one of the best road bike shops in the country0

Brilliant! Went up this saturday, they were very busy but really took the time, made sure I was happy, gave me some freebie goodies, helped me put it in my car, sorting me out some shoes and a torque key... couldn't ask for better service.0
