Two fellow Alberto Contador suffered a fall at the head of the pack to kilometer 37. Chris Horner (6 - Astana) was evacuated by ambulance, while Daniel Navarro (4 - Tselinograd) is getting the attention of doctors and continues to race by the time -

Does anyone know if Contador went down in this and what the details of Horners injuries are?

  • Armstrong just said on his Twitter that it might be a broken wrist.

Bad times for Astana at the Giro

Man that sucks. Anyone else here think that if Silence-Lotto kept Chris Horner, Cadel would have won the TDF?

It seems like every time I read about a race with Astana, there's something about amazing work by Horner to protect his leader or get him into perfect position.

that's sad news...Horner seems very powerful whenever he races...seems he played a very decisive role in stage 1 in keeping Leiphemer within hitting distance of yellow when breaks had gone @TOC...and then set up AC yesterday...Chris Horner is old too...so costly

    .

Definitely. SL had some riders at the bottom of Alpe d'Huez to respond to the initial attacks, but no proper climbers to respond to Sastre's second go.

I go against the the grain and am a Cadel fan. I see him as a man of great talent pitched against more powerful and numerous forces (like Luke Skywalker)

Horner's banged up but apparently nothing broken. Probably back in time for the Giro - a real shame as he's on great form right now and would have done well in the Ardennes races.
