Bottom bracket maintenance
I'm currently getting my Roubaix set up for summer having spent the last few months riding my old wreck of commuter/winter bike.
All is well with the Roubaix except the cranks don't appear to be spinning quite as freely as they should.
The bottom bracket area is not one of my strong points maintenance wise... All the threads on here about bottom brackets seem to be concerned with replacement - is that my only option? Is any form of lubrication/ greasing viable?
I think it is an FSA SL-K crankset and MegaeXo BB - if I was pursuing replacement what would be the most cost effective option? Am I right in undestanding that a Hollowtech II BB would be compatible?
Thanks in advance.

Remove the cranks and try and carefully remove the seals from the bearings - there might be a build-up of crud and dirt. Turn each bearing by hand and see if it is smooth with no roughness - if OK a clean and regrease should see you OK. If not, a replacement would be your best option. There are plenty of aftermarket spares to choose from, including ceramics from Acros, Hope and TokenMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks - I decided the BB was beyond servicing - I took it into the bike shop and got them to fit a new Ultegra BB. Hopefully I should get a couple of years out of that.0
