Heading off down to Afan Valley tonight... Plan is to leave cambridge by 5pm, hopefully get down to the campsite by 9pm, although that is ambitious with it being easter weekend I'm sure the traffic will be horrendous!!!
Oh well.. looking forward to riding a few of the trails down there! ...Camping down there tonight, friday & sat nights, heading back sunday evening... so 3 days of riding some of the best singletrack in the country! - Yay - should be some fun times!
Just need to get a new water pack for my hydrapack cause I was dumb and put it in the dishwasher now its not waterproof anymore!!!! DOH!

See you there.
We are coming to the Afan on Saturday morning to aviod traffic and staying till Tuesday then off to north wales for yet more riding.
10days of riding. Bring it on. I'm Sat at work now waiting for the hours to pass. Not done any work whatsoever just working out which trails to hit first.
looks like Saturday and Sunday will be good weather with a little rain Monday to make things intresting. This time last year it rained and rained. I don't mind cycling in the rain but i'm a fair weather camper.
4 hours till home time. Tick tick tick.
Right I'm off for a very loooong lunchbreak.

I'm off down there tomorrow, coming back next Friday. Might not hit the centres until Tuesday though as it sounds like it might be a bit busy (weather looks good for Saturday though). It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
It's always busy at the Afan Easter weekend but I like it busy lots of people to chat with and race down the singletrack, although queuing on the up hill is a pain. We'll do the skyline on Saturday as most ppl stick to the shorter runs.

Was a very good trip, my first propper singletrack riding and I was quite impressed, I didn't think the downhill stuff would be half as technical as it was so that was a really nice surprise!
Drove down there on Thursday evening stuck in loads of traffic, took us over 5 hours to get there from Cambridge!
Did whites trail on Friday morning, but I really didn't enjoy that climb, especially on a 15" steel hardtail with forks that weigh a ton (Z150s lol).... A lot of breaks were required, and it took something like 2.5hours to climb to the top!!!! - But we did it, we got there in one peice and it was all worth while when it came to riding the downhill sections, wow, they were really good fun and something I wasnt' expecting! - I really didn't think the downhill sections would be half as technical and fast as they were!
Went on to do the wall on saturday which was great fun, although again, the climb was a struggle (I really need to get fitter!) - But the Graveyard and ZigZags were without doubt the highlight of the weekend for me! - Really enjoyed it....
By sunday I was pretty tired so we decided to do the downhill sections of the wall as they were so fun the previous day, so we rode over to the firetrack that you start the climb on for the wall trail and we walked it all the way up to Nanty Bar then rode Nanty bar and picadilly and then graveyard and zig zags then home again.
Was really good fun, and can't wait for the next trip in May... Such a shame there are no hills like that around Cambridge or I'd be out there getting fit as a fiddle, instead I'm in a beer garden getting unfit fast!0
