Rockhopper sizing?

Hello,
Tried out a Rockhopper today and really liked it. Was going to go for something more expensive but after the ride today I think I'll stick with the Hopper and save some cash.
Being 6,1" I'm right in between sizes 19" and 21". I rode a 19" today which seemed to fit well but slightly on the small side of comfortable. The shop didn't have a 21" hopper but did have a Hardrock. This again felt generally OK for sizing but on the larger side of comfortable with minimal top tube clearance. On balance I preferred the nippier feeling of the 19" but not sure if that was down to the sizing or just because it was a Rockhopper rather than a Hardrock. I can get an 08 Rockhopper disc for £499 but they only have one 19" left and that's it. If I want to go for a 21" of similar spec it means parting with £680 for an 09 Comp.
Questions...
1) Can I go by the Hardrock sizing or should I seek out a 21" Hopper to try? Problem is the longer I take to make my mind up the more chance the 19" 08 will have gone.
2) Considering one may be fractionally small and one fractionally big, which would be best to go for?
3) Anyone 6,1" ish with a 32/33" inside leg and have a Rockhopper? Which size did you go for?
Thanks.

Check out Specialized`s website for a comparison of geometry between Rockhopper and Hardrock. Its the effective tt length that`s the critical measurement.
My mate is a similar height and he has the 19".The 19" is actually quite long by the standards of other makes.2006 Giant XTC

Hello Matey
Im 6"2 and have a 33" leg, I ride a 19" rockhopper, however i know the geometry will have changed rather alot since my 2001 model.
I found the bigger size too much to handle so went for the 19"

Simliar sizing 6ft 2 with a 32 inch inside leg and I went for a 19" on a 2004 model0

Bear in mind that the 2008 Disc has the same spec as the 2009 Comp.0

I'm 6ft2 and ride an '09 'Hopper Pro, I went for the 19in version and it's perfect for me, definitely not too small. I've got a 33in inside leg.
It depends on your style I suppose, I like a bike I can chuck around and to feel lively, but the 21in may offer even more stability if that's what you're looking for, not that the 19 doesn't feel stable.
I reckon the smart money would be on the 19in '08 Disc0 -
I am 6'2 and ride a 21" hardrock (upgraded a little lol), to be honest, the next thing to be upgraded will be the frame, it's nearly the only original thing left, I will move to a 19" as I want it to be more nimble really.
21" is a heavy frame too.0 -
Bargain!
We have a 17" RH Disc (bought in 2008) and it's very good.
Grab the 19" now! And put the saddle right up. And get a longer stem if needed.0 -
I'm about 6'2" and have a 21" 08 Rockhopper. It's too big. I shortened the stem to make it more comfortable but wished I gone for the 19" - bad advice from the shop I bought it from!! Go for the 19".0
