Has anyone got much insight in to these bikes?
Basically I'm looking to get a longer travel bike, more suited to the UK trail centres than my S-Works Epic!
For the Enduro, it's a toss up between an '08 pro carbon if I move quickly, and the '09 comp - a bit of a downgrade in components.. Although I'm not overly keen on the look of the double crown forks on the '08.
I like the look and feel of the Remedy (to sit on in the shop!) but havent ridden it.. Reviews seem fairly good
On the Genius 50, it's a lower spec in their range, but in the 2k price range I'm looking at. What are the scott equaliser shocks like? They look a little over engineered to me! Are they easy to set up and look after? The remote lockout is nice though
Other options were less aggressive bikes, like the Spesh Stumpy FSR Elite, the Scott Spark 35, and the Trek Fuel Ex8... I still could be tempted on the stumpy, especially with the 10% free accessories etc
Do you reckon theres much leeway with the shops to get a deal on a higher model in the range, say a bike around the 2200-2500 mark?
Cheers guys!

For what I see a guy doing on a Specalized Pitch in Swinley
I would seriously forget the Enduro
And be approx £ 600 quid in my pocket better off.
Not a fan of Carbon (personal)0 -
I have an 08 enduro and recently tried the 09 comp at coed y brenin. Only after comparing the two did I realise just how fantastic the E-150 fork is. It is WAY stiffer than the Fox 150 fitted to the 09 comp, which was twanging off everything and just didn't inspire anything like the confidence that the E-150 gives. Granted it needs a bit of fettling to set it just how you want it (took me weeks!) but now I wouldn't have anything else.
Get the 08 Enduro you will not be disappointed................. or a Pitch. The Pikes not a bad fork either0 -
An 08 Pro Carbon for £2k - it's a no brainer
I've had mine for a year and it's been superb, rode pretty much all of the Welsh trail centres and it's not missed a beat.
The frame and fork are extremely stiff, point the bike down a steep rocky section and it goes exactly where you want it to go. The bike in a large size only weighs 29.2lbs so climbing isn't too much of a long slog either.
The specification is top notch; SRAM X0 & X9 kit, Avid Juicy Ultimate brakes, Thomson seat post and a full XT drive train.Specialized Enduro SL Pro Carbon

Cheers guys! Interesting views so far
I do like the look of the carbon enduro, just need to wait and see if my insurance settlement comes before it goes out of stock!
I was also looking at the Orange 5 Pro today, nice looking bike with a good spec for £2500 @ Stif. Tempting!Specialized S-Works Tarmac (2011)

I've got a Remedy 8. Took it round the red route at Dalby yesterday and it was awesome. 6" front and back just make the ride so much more enjoyable, went up hills dead easy even without propedal turned on, and came down them at a ridiculous pace.
Even with the slack front end, steep downhill and uphill switchbacks were easily dealt with (and I'm not a great rider), it's a really nimble machine for the size it looks and it gave me loads of confidence to chuck it down all of the drop-ins on the route without slowing down at all on the entrance. The Trek specific titanium XT brake calipers took care of me when I got a little enthusiastic!!
Love it. Wouldn't change it for anything else on the market.0 -
Hi i'v got an 07 scott genius 50 and the shock is fine to setup you can usually get the shop to do it if not there is a scale on the side and u just use a normal shock pump.
Hope i can help

Got my new Remedy 7 Tuesday (been riding a hardtail for the last 4 years) and took it for a quick blast yesterday evening. WOW!
The short Gower ride from my house includes some technical rocky descents, tarmac, gravel roads, steep grassy climbs (thankfully you can drop it to 115 on the front), fast open rocky descents and a nasty boulder filled track towards the end.
The 160 front and 150 back soaked everything up, didn't need the propedal on the tarmac felt 'bob' free. Lyric with maxle felt stiff and secure through the boulder track that used to scare the shite out of me on my hard tail. SLX feels smooth, Juicy 5 stopped my 14st mass every time I asked them too.
Didn't notice any extra weight (don't know the exact weight of my hardtail or Remedy but the shop weighed a 19.5in Remedy when I was looking to buy one and it came in bang on 31lb)
From stock only need to put a bit more air in the shock, and reduce the pressure in the tyres and swaped the grips over from my old bike (Bonty ones' felt a little thin).
Overall very very pleased.
Like everyone else says test ride a few and get the one that you feel is the best, I took a Remedy 8, and a few Lapierre's (Spicy and Zesty) out on the Demo day in Afan and the Remedy blew the others away.
Bring on Afan and GC this weekend!0
