I need some new forks for an old frame i just dug up and am going to refurbish, starting in about a month, its a jumper so i want some nice forks to go with it, i want smooth travel at least 100mm, and a smooth slow rebound which leads me to believe i need hydraulic forks, can i have some suggestions on middle range hydraulic forks?

Thanks
P.S they need to be compatible with 185mm rotors

Quick release or 20mm thru axle lowers?

1 1/8th threadless, and no quick release.

The forks that came off the frame are RST Gila T5's

Well, forks come generally in two flavours: 20mm bolt through hubs, and 9mm acles that can be boltted up or QR.

Some forks like the Argyle are all 20mm bolt through, and you need a compatible hub.

so the 20mm bolt through is the axle right? and its 20mm in diameter? because the slot at the bottom of the current forks is 9.5mm and the axle fits in and gets bolted tight!

sorry for the lack of knowledge i am a good metal worker and machinist but know little about bike specs.

Yes, the axle is 20mm. The thicker axle makes for a much stiffer hub. You need a compatible hub to run this (which your hub is not)

    A 20mm bolt thru fork:
