I think the corporate manslaughter is a perverse way to twist c2w scheme.

My employer provided a scheme for the purchase of PC's along the same lines as C2W scheme. You couldn't hold the company responsible if someone puchased a PC through the scheme only for the employee to trawl the net for child porn for example.

IMHO an employer making it easier to purchase a bike in no way leaves them liable should the employee then have an accident or whatever on the bike.

My company argue H&S is an issue and that they would be liable for encouraging cycling "which is clearly dangerous".

I've heard this quoted by several people struggling to get companies to promote cycling. It is quite simply utter, utter nonsense.

As a general rule cyclists and other active commuters are fitter healthier individuals for one, and you only have to listen to the traffic news to hear about how many car accidents happen. That doesn't stop companies providing car parking spaces though does it?

Drving is far more dangerous in both the short and long term; your company is abusing H&S guidance to avoid doing their duty.

It seems that my employer is still going ahead with its cycle to work scheme.
