Burst SRAM X.4 rear Mech

My Mates SRAM X.4 rear mech appears to be busted. the bottom cage is all "floppy" and has no spring back action, almost as if the spring has popped out of its mount. The shifting up and down the cassette works fine however the tension in the lower arm is non existant and as such, doesn't tension the chain round the jockey wheels.
Is this a dead duck and time to spend the £18 on a new one or can it be fixed? It looks like a sealed unit and if so, its probably fit for spares....
TIA!

Looking at the images of the mech online the tension spring is inside the housing of your mech. It may just be that the spring has popped out of its locating point only one way to find out. The odds are the spring is biffed and you'll have to get a new mech anyway but a look inside may solve your problem.Neil
